Kutch June 2017
The Lost Village
The journey began on a bright full moon night from Ahmedabad. I reached bhuj, city in Gujarat, early morning. It was a splendid monsoon morning. I went to explore few villages in kutch district.
On my search I found a village named Ludiya. It is approximately 65 kms away from Bhuj. Jat muslim tribe resides there. They live in bhunga (traditional home made by local people). Majority of the people residing here could only understand kutchi language.they warmly welcomed me. They were expertise in godli (quilt) making. Hence, keeping their tradition in tact. They wear their traditional clothes.
This tribe lives below poverty line. In spite of roza (ramzan) going on, everyone who met me while exploring the village greeted me well and offered me a cup of tea. Overcoming their circumstances 'A lost village' taught me to smile and stand strong whatever the situation may be. Besides ludiya there's another village named "gandhi nu gaam" famous for its embroidery and carpentry works. It was destroyed in 2001 earthquake, now it's been well built. Then I continued my journey and went to a village named 'bhujodi' famous for its cotton work.
On my way back I had mavo (sweet dish) and kutchi dabeli (local food item) which were just mouth watering. One should definitely try them. I experienced my first seasonal rain there, got wet, saw the sunset and boarded the bus back to my city.
